Art and Design Foundation is a one-year certificate program that will give you a broad base of expert knowledge and technical skills in art and design. If you want to explore a variety of art and design disciplines, develop your portfolio for further studies, and gain creative skills in a studio-based environment, then this program is for you.

In the 16-week Apparel Fit Technician certificate program, you'll learn how to recognize good apparel fit, identify fit problems, correct fit in ready-made garments, and apply ideal fit standards across different body types and fabrics. As a student in this program, you'll also develop your customer service skills. 

In our one-year Gemmology certificate program, you'll learn to analyze and classify a wide variety of gem materials, with both natural and artificial origins. You'll delve into the chemical and physical attributes of gems, learning to differentiate between various types using instruments like microscopes, spectroscopes, refractometers, and polariscopes. This knowledge will allow you to classify gem materials based on their desirable characteristics, which ultimately determine their value.

The 16-week Industrial Power Sewing certificate program prepares you to work in an industrial sewing environment. After completing this program, you'll be able to construct standard garments using industrial machines to a high standard. You'll also gain experience using specialty sewing machines and pressing equipment.

The Jewellery Essentials one-year certificate program will give you the skills and techniques you need to begin a fulfilling career in the jewellery industry. Get ready to learn to saw, file, solder, grind, polish, and finish metals including copper, brass, silver, and gold. You'll also learn to create jewellery pieces through fabrication, computer modelling, and casting techniques.

In the three-semester Women in Fashion Technology certificate program, you'll gain the skills you need to become a machine operator in the digital fashion technology fields of knitting, embroidery, dye sublimation, and laser cutting.

Commercial Dance (P106) is a one-year certificate program that will train you to become a triple-threat performer, ready for your turn in the spotlight as a commercial dancer.This program is offered in partnership with Ballet Jörgen.

Theatre Arts – Preparation is a dynamic one-year certificate program, specifically designed for students who require the basic skills for entry into theatre and media programs.Disclaimer: This program has expectations of professionalism, group work, intimacy between actors, whispering, consensual touching, combat training, expressions of physicality, deep exploration of self, personal psychological examination, conflict, and successful failure. This program is meant to train a student to be a professional actor, which includes all of these aspects listed here.

The American Sign Language and Deaf Studies certificate is a hybrid program open to both Deaf and non-deaf students. This program provides intensive training in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.  

The Deafblind and Intervenor Studies program prepares you to work with individuals who have combined vision and hearing loss. This is a hybrid program, including online and in-person components.   

George Brown College's Advanced Studies in Inclusive Early Childhood is a post-diploma, one-semester training program that strengthen your capacity to respond to children with special needs. This program is designed for Early Childhood Educators, teachers and supervisors.

George Brown College's Child Development Practitioner (CDP) program is designed for those already working in the field of Early Childhood who wish to pursue formal studies and receive certification as a Career Development Practitioner. As a CDP apprentice, you will be required to take 23 modules of in-school training on a part-time basis in the evenings. This training is currently being offered in a hybrid format - both in-person and online.

George Brown College's Early Childhood (EC) Management Certificate (Post-Diploma) is a one-semester program designed to prepare supervisors and directors for their roles and responsibilities in childcare programs, family childcare, preschools, nursery schools, family drop-in centres, family literacy programs and early intervention services. This program will also prepare you for management and leadership in the integrated early childhood system that is emerging in Ontario.

The Plumbing Techniques one-year certificate program covers residential, commercial, and industrial applications in the plumbing industry, with a focus on residential plumbing. This hands-on program will benefit anyone seeking to enter an apprenticeship or any construction-related career path.

The Welding Techniques one-year certificate program applies the technical theory and elements of the welding field through hands-on learning, transforming you into a welding pro. With our state-of-the-art welding lab featuring 26 stations and virtual welding simulations, you'll hone your skills in a controlled setting. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSThis online distance program is only available to study while remaining in your home country and does not qualify for study/work permit eligibility in Canada.We developed the 32-week Automation Technician certificate program to meet the industry's growing demand for workers with a broad set of skills and knowledge in industrial automation, including digital electronics, process control, SCADA systems, and programming of Programmable Logic Controllers and robotics. This program examines applications and examples of automated manufacturing systems, including both the theory and function of digital and industrial electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics, robotics systems, programming languages, and alarm management. You'll learn through a combination of theory and laboratory simulations using LogixSim, a simulation software suite that includes electronics, PLC, and robotics simulation.

The Electric Vehicle (EV) Technician training program addresses a global need for people who are skilled in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing high voltage EVs, and commercial charging stations.You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of electrical vehicle circuits through a blend of theoretical and hands-on instruction. Our multimedia learning resources and cutting-edge electrical/electronics simulation software (CircuitLogix Pro) enable you to test, validate, and understand the complexities of circuits commonly found in EVs.This program is highly beneficial to Automotive Service Technicians who have a strong background in internal combustion engine (ICE) powered vehicles, but lack the skills in power electronics and data communication systems to safely perform service-related work on EVs and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). This program is often of interest to people who want to study electronics with an emphasis on mechanical systems, for example, someone coming from a millwright background. The program covers mechanical topics outside of a typical electronics program, like industrial control devices, DC and AC motors and control circuits, transformers, analog and digital transducers, industrial process control and PLCs.ADVANCED STANDINGIf you have finished the Electronics Technician program, you are exempted from 18 modules of the Electromechanical Technician program.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSThis online distance program does not qualify for study/work permit (including PGWP) eligibility in Canada.This program focuses on the skills needed to assemble, install, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment used by consumers, businesses and industry. Students learn electronics theory and how to work with circuits and the various components of electronic systems such as capacitors, resistors, semiconductors and amplifiers. The focus is on a broad understanding of the field that students can then apply to specific areas of interest or employment.

This 14-week Mechanical Techniques certificate program is specifically designed to complement university engineering students' theoretical knowledge with applied practical techniques. Topics include manufacturing protocol, engineering drawing, solid modelling (Solidworks), precision machining, quality control, CNC machining with Mastercam, pneumatics/electro-pneumatic circuits, and microprocessor control systems. Coursework emphasizes practical techniques through applied learning and hands-on lab activities.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSThis online distance program is only available to study while remaining in your home country and does not qualify for study/work permit eligibility in Canada.The Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Technician Certificate program provides the basic technical skills and knowledge necessary to work with programmable logic control systems typically found in an industrial/manufacturing environment. The program covers the operation of various PLC control systems, including both discrete and analog control devices. The simulation software, PLCLogix 500, which is included with the program, simulates the Rockwell RSLogix 500 series of PLCs.ADVANCED STANDINGIf you have finished the PLC Technician II program, you are exempted from 7 modules of the PLC Technician program.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSThis online distance program does not qualify for study/work permit (including PGWP) eligibility in Canada.The PLC Technician II Certificate program introduces the theory behind Programmable Logic Controllers while maintaining an emphasis on the application of PLCs in plant and manufacturing systems. The PLC Technician II program provides a more advanced study of PLCs in manufacturing, including DCS & SCADA systems. The PLCLogix 5000 simulator integrated within the program emulates the Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000 programming applications and features 3D simulation and advanced programming.ADVANCED STANDINGIf you have finished the PLC Technician program, you will receive credit for exemptions from 7 modules of the PLC Technician II program.

The primary focus of the program is on automated manufacturing processes, as well as the role of robots and their support equipment. Receive instruction in both theoretical concepts and laboratory exercises using a combination of multimedia learning resources and a robotics simulation software package, RoboLogix.

Prepare for a career in one of the fastest-growing energy sectors in the world with the Wind Turbine Technician certificate program. George Brown College created this online program to address a global need for people skilled in servicing, diagnosing, repairing and installing wind turbines and related equipment. Using multimedia learning resources and cutting-edge simulation software, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of wind turbine power and control circuits.  

The Dental Assisting program provides the education required to work as a certified dental assistant (Levels I and II). As a student in this program, you will develop the skills, technical knowledge and clinical experience necessary to work in a professional, ethical and collaborative manner in a variety of settings.

The Dental Office Administration program will teach you the administrative skills and clinical knowledge needed to work effectively in a dental practice. You'll also get ample hands-on experience off-site with a dental partner, so you'll be ready to work upon graduation.  

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program teaches students the skills required to provide or assist with personal care for the elderly, the chronically ill, and persons with accessibility challenges. These patients may live in the community, in long-term care facilities, or in select ambulatory care settings.Classes for this two-semester program are held at our state-of-the-art Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences at Waterfront Campus and are scheduled between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Students can expect to participate in faculty-supervised clinical practicums that take place in various settings across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Shift hours may vary between day and/or evenings depending upon the practice setting.

The one-semester Personal Support Worker Pathway to Practical Nursing program prepares Personal Support Worker (PSW) graduates for entry into the Practical Nursing (PN) program. This full-time program focuses on strengthening the academic skills required by the PN program. If you apply to the May 2024/25 intake for this program, you will start in May 2025. To begin your studies in May 2024, apply to the 2023/24 academic year.

Academic Upgrading (A751) is a tuition-free program designed to reduce barriers to accessing and succeeding in post-secondary education. If you're a mature student who hasn't completed grade 12 and wants to obtain a certificate, diploma, or degree, then this program is for you.Through a personalized assessment, we'll identify your strengths and areas for growth. You'll then participate in targeted learning activities to enhance your skills, which may include reading, writing, math, and/or science. We also offer individual counselling supports, along with academic and career advising.With multiple intakes throughout the year and options for full-time or part-time study, our program is tailored to accommodate your personal needs. You'll need to complete a reading and writing assessment to make sure the program is the right fit for you and that you receive the proper placement.PLEASE NOTE: Applicants will have the choice between courses offered in-person and online, subject to availability. Registered students who are regularly attending the program may be eligible to receive a transportation subsidy, a netbook, and/or monthly Internet device.

The College Vocational one-year certificate program is for students who identify mild intellectual disability or neurodiversity as a barrier to being successful in the workplace. Our inclusive program will help you develop your skills in the areas of communication, teamwork, self-awareness, self-advocacy, and give you the confidence to achieve your goals.This program is suitable for those who have graduated from high school with an Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC) or Diploma (OSSD) and workplace credits. 

Construction Craft Worker (A106) is a free, 18-week supported education program for students who identify mental health and/or addictions challenges as a barrier to education and employment. In a hands-on, small group setting, with experiential work opportunities and job-coaching support, you'll develop the skills you need for entry-level work in Toronto's construction industry. This program was developed in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and is unique in Canada.

George Brown College’s Culinary Skills (A110) is a free, supportive program designed to help those who face mental health or addictions challenges reach their education and employment goals. We'll prepare you for entry-level work in Toronto's food service industry, through a combination of small-group learning, job coaching support, and experiential work opportunities.

George Brown College’s Human Services Foundations (A113) is a two-semester program designed to kick-start your career journey. In a supportive learning environment, you'll strengthen your academic skills and be ready for an entry-level role in human services or further education in a variety of human services-related diploma programs. You'll learn about sociology and psychology and improve your communication and teamwork skills, while understanding how systemic issues affect individuals and communities. Together with classmates, you'll explore personal and professional goals and career pathway options for a successful career in human services.

The Pre-Business (A146) one-year certificate program will give you the skills you need to succeed in diploma programs and/or prepare you for entry-level jobs in the business world. You'll learn about the fundamentals in business, marketing, accounting, math, and communication, while earning credits toward diploma-level programs. After completing this program, you'll be able to apply for admission into the second semester of some of our Business Diploma programs.

You'll take courses in biology, chemistry, applied math, communications, career readiness preparation, and general electives.
