Am I eligible to apply and work at George Brown College?
We welcome all applications, however, prior to accepting an offer of employment you must provide documents confirming your eligibility to legally work in Canada. Information regarding Immigration rules and processes can be accessed at the Government of Canada website.

How Do I Know When A Job Is Posted On George Brown College’s Career Site?
Jobs are posted weekly, typically every Friday. We recommend checking back often to view new opportunities. Additionally, you can set up job alerts to receive notifications for postings that match your interests.
To create a job alert, start by entering search criteria in the search bar and the option for creating a job alert will pop up once you click “Search”. Click on “Create an alert.” A pop-up box will open for you to enter the Name of the alert you wish to set. Select “Daily” under “Cadence” to be alerted the day a job meets the criteria is posted and click “Create.” Do not select “Weekly” as jobs can be posted any day.
Application System
I Found A Position I Am Interested In. How Do I Apply?
GBC Employees: Current employees must log in to the Employee Career Site to apply. If you were employed with George Brown College on a contractual basis within the past two years, you can also apply through the Employee Career Site. External Applicants: Unless the posting states otherwise, once you have identified a position you are interested in, click on the position title and click “Apply Now” found at the top left-hand corner of the page. If this is your first time logging in to our system, you will be asked to create a profile with a username and password that will be used each time you log in and to receive and accept any subsequent offers of employment.
Unfortunately, applications that are faxed, mailed in, or dropped off will not be accepted as part of our recruitment process.
Does my application need to be in a special format to apply online?
Yes. Only the following formats are acceptable — .doc, .docx, ,pdf, .txt (max file size 5MB). Please also ensure that file names do not exceed 50 characters (including spaces) maximum.
Can I apply to more than one posted position?
Yes. We encourage you to apply to every position that you’re interested in by thoroughly reviewing our job opportunities and to determine which positions align with your skills, qualifications, and career goals.
I know the Hiring Manager of the position I am interested in. Can I submit my application directly to them?
No. All applications must be submitted to us using the online system through the Employment at George Brown College page to be considered unless the job posting specifically states otherwise.
I Am Having Trouble Submitting My Application Online. What Should I Do?
If you face any technical difficulties, please send a screenshot of the issue to hr@georgebrown.ca and we will get back to you to assist with your application. The screenshot enables us to investigate and work towards fixing the technical issue. If the issue cannot be fixed within the application closing date, we will accept your email application.
I missed the application deadline. Can I still apply to the position?
If a position has an application deadline, it will be removed once the deadline has passed, preventing further applications. If no qualified candidate is selected after the initial evaluation or interview process, the position may be re-posted and you will have the opportunity to apply again.
I noticed a position on an external website such as LinkedIn or Indeed, but it is not posted on your Career Site. How can I apply to this position?
Some external websites such as LinkedIn and Indeed function as job aggregators and scrape our positions which we cannot control. Please always visit our Employment at George Brown College page to view and apply to our current job opportunities.
How will I know if my application was successfully submitted?
You will receive an e-mail notification confirming the receipt of your application. Please review your mailbox folders, including your junk folder, for this confirmation.
Can I Make Changes To My Profile Application After Submitting?
No. You can only log into your online profile to view or withdraw your application.
Application Process
Do internal employees receive consideration over external applicants?
George Brown College prioritizes internal talent, giving first consideration to qualified internal employees. If no suitable candidate is found internally, the College will then review external applications.
How will my application be assessed?
Your application will be evaluated based on the skills, competencies, and qualifications listed in the job posting. Additional questions may be asked during the online application process to further assess your candidacy.
When can I expect to be contacted about my application?
Due to the high volume of applications received, only those individuals chosen for an interview will be contacted.
What steps can I expect to follow if my application is selected and I move through the complete recruitment process?
If selected, a member of the Talent Acquisition team will contact you. The initial process usually involves a phone interview. If successful, you will be invited to a panel interview. In the final stages, George Brown College will conduct reference and educational credential checks before making an offer to the successful candidate(s).
The Job Posting References “Credentials May Require Validation At The Time Of Interviews.” What Does This Mean?
As part of the recruitment process, your academic credentials or designations will require validation prior or at the offer stage.
- Canadian and US academic credentials will be verified by the college.
- Candidates with International academic credentials must submit their own academic degree equivalency. For more information, please refer to the Foreign Credential Validation against Canadian Standards.
