The Business Administration – Accounting three-year advanced diploma gives you the knowledge and skills needed for accounting jobs in a wide range of industries. You’ll explore topics like auditing, corporate taxation, law, and strategic management that will help you in your future career.
Here are some skills you’ll be able to show off after completion of the Business Administration - Accounting program:
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, databases and accounting software programs
- Advising business owners and managers on important strategic decisions
- Recording financial transactions for all types of business structures
- Preparing and presenting financial statements and reports
- Preparing income tax returns for individuals and corporations

Advanced diploma and diploma programs at the Schools of Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Management, and Marketing and the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program at the School of Accounting and Finance have ACBSP accreditation. George Brown is now one of only two colleges in Ontario to have earned ACBSP accreditation.

Graduates of the Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma may be eligible for advanced standing in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program. For information on additional future study options, see our transfer guide.
Degree Transfer Option
Graduates of the Advanced Accounting Diploma (B107/B157) who have a minimum Program GPA of 3.0 may be eligible to transfer into Semester 5 of the Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) with a specialization in Accounting (B322). Block Transfer students are granted a minimum of 20, up to a maximum of 25 credits towards their degree program.
If you are a B107/B157 graduate who is interested in transferring to B322, but do not meet the GPA standard for transfer, you may be eligible to upgrade.

The B107 program is accredited by ACCA until December 30th, 2028. Graduates of B107 before this date are entitled to the following exemptions:
- Business and Technology (BT), Management Accounting (MA), Financial Accounting (FA), Corporate and Business Law (LW), Performance Management (PM), Taxation (TX).

Required Courses
In order to graduate from the B107 program, you need to complete 33 courses: 29 mandatory courses, 1 Business elective and 3 General Education electives.
Depending on the results of your placement tests, you may be required to take COMM1000 (Introduction to College Communication) before progressing to COMM2000. Similarly, you may be required to take MATH1027 (Business Math with Remediation) before progressing to MATH1191. COMM1000 and MATH1027 do not count toward the 33 courses required for graduation, and you will be charged for these extra courses. Please speak to the Business Office if you need any assistance.
General Education Courses (semesters 3, 5 and 6): You must complete three General Education courses chosen from at least two of the following categories: Social Sciences (GSSC), Arts and Humanities (GHUM) or Science and Technology (GSCI).
You are required to make up any failed or dropped courses before you are eligible to graduate. You can make up these courses during the day, and some are offered in the evening through Continuing Education. Please check with the business office staff to ensure that the continuing education courses are equivalent to what is taught in the full-time program. Please note that some courses may not be offered in every semester. Our staff can assist you with any special timetable requirements you may have.

- Record financial transactions in compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for sole proprietorships, partnerships, private enterprises, publicly accountable enterprises and non-profit organizations.
- Prepare and present financial statements, reports and other documents in compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for sole proprietorships, partnerships and private enterprises.
- Contribute to strategic decision-making by applying advanced management accounting concepts.
- Prepare individuals' and Canadian-controlled private corporations’ income tax returns and individuals’ basic tax planning in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Analyze and evaluate organizational structures and the interdependence of functional areas, and contribute to the development of strategies which positively impact financial performance.
- Analyze and evaluate, within a Canadian context, the impact of economic variables, legislation, ethics, technological advances and the environment on an organization’s operations.
