Captioning, Transcription & Described Videos

Main Content

The college’s Accessible Media Policy requires all content to be either captioned, transcribed or described using the following process.

Content created by faculty

For all video/audio content either created/recorded by faculty or owned by another individual/entity, please contact the Accessible Media Co-ordinator to have your content professionally captioned, transcribed or described. Please allow an average of one week for turnaround time for captioning and transcription, although this can vary based on demand and content duration, so, please plan accordingly. Described video service is available only for students with an accommodation and takes an average of two weeks to complete.

Content faculty did not create

Content for which faculty did not create or own the copyright involves securing permission prior to captioning or describing videos and may result in a longer completion time.

Content found on YouTube and other websites

Please note that auto-generated captioning, often found on platforms such as YouTube, does not meet accessibility standards. If you’re unsure if the videos you have selected are properly captioned, please contact the Accessible Media Co-ordinator to review the content to ensure compliance.
