Program Overview

The Business two-year diploma program will give you the tools you need to perform business functions at a local, national, and global level. As a graduate of this program, you’ll come away with a practical understanding of key business concepts and can look forward to exciting employment opportunities like a customer service representative, junior business analyst, or scheduling coordinator.

General in its nature, the Business two-year diploma program can lead to an array of career options. Whether a business is large or small, graduates from the program can contribute to many areas of an organization by offering expertise in accounting, finance, human resources, and marketing. 

Here are some skills you’ll be able to show off after completion of the Business diploma program: 

  • Using an environmental scan to identify and discuss the impact of global issues on an organization's business opportunities 
  • Enhancing business performance through ongoing personal and professional development 
  • Implementing principles of corporate sustainability, social responsibility, and ethics 
  • Contributing to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects

Fourteen programs at the Centre for Business have earned international recognition from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Advanced diploma and diploma programs at the Schools of Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Management, and Marketing and the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program at the School of Accounting and Finance have ACBSP accreditation. George Brown is now one of only two colleges in Ontario to have earned ACBSP accreditation.  

Your Field Education Options

Students have the option of earning a business elective credit with the Field Education Course (BUS 1067).

Career Options

Graduates of the Business program find work in a broad range of employment settings in all sectors of business, including manufacturers, retailers, financial institutions, government offices, consulting firms and other large and small businesses. The program is general in nature and is designed to lead to a wide array of career opportunities such as:

  • customer service representative
  • junior business analyst
  • procurement assistant
  • project planning assistant
  • scheduling co-ordinator

This program has a pathway to the Business Administration B145/155 three-year advanced diploma program.
