The Business – Accounting two-year diploma program teaches students fundamental accounting concepts and practices, as well as broad-based business skills. As a graduate of this program, you can look forward to an exciting career in dynamic business sectors like merchandising, government offices, financial institutions, and manufacturing. 


Full Description

The Business – Accounting two-year diploma program equips you with the skills you need to launch a successful career in the accounting field. You’ll gain practical knowledge of accounting application software, spreadsheets and databases, economics, communications, law and taxation, and more. 

Here are some skills you’ll be able to show off after completion of the Business - Accounting program: 

  • Processing common business transactions
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports
  • Developing financial budgets and plans
  • Analyzing operating performance
  • Providing basic tax planning for individuals

Fourteen programs at the Centre for Business have earned international recognition from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Advanced diploma and diploma programs at the Schools of Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Management, and Marketing and the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program at the School of Accounting and Finance have ACBSP accreditation. George Brown is now one of only two colleges in Ontario to have earned ACBSP accreditation.

Career Options

Graduates are prepared for careers in a wide range of business sectors, including manufacturing, merchandising, service organizations, federal, provincial and municipal government offices, banks and other financial institutions. Graduates of the program have found employment in the following roles:

  • accounts analyst
  • accounts payable and receivable clerk
  • bookkeeper
  • customer service representative

Educational Pathways

This two-year diploma has a pathway to the Business Administration – Accounting B107/B157 three-year advanced diploma.

Degree Transfer Option

Graduates of the Business Administration – Accounting diploma may be eligible to transfer into the Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program. Eligibility will be assessed based on completion of the entire program, individual courses, and/or program GPA. For more information, please contact either:

Designations

Graduates of this program may wish to pursue membership with the Association of Chartered Certificate Accountants (ACCA). For more information, please visit the ACCA website.

The B103 program is accredited by ACCA until December 30, 2022. Graduates of B103 before this date are entitled to the following exemptions:
