This fully online program was developed for graduates of advanced diploma programs in interior design.

Explore design thinking, sustainability, socially responsible practices, building systems and construction in the fully online one-year Honours Bachelor of Interior Design (Degree Completion) (T320) program. Students develop research skills and gain practical experience with a large capstone project.
This degree completion program – developed for graduates of advanced diploma programs in interior design – teaches students how to create, edit and manage construction documents, enabling them to pursue careers in the construction and facilities management industries. Students also learn to analyze interiors, architecture, decorative arts and art within global, historical, economic, ecological and cultural contexts and human-centred theories to examine clients’ needs and goals.
The program prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, advanced study and application for membership in professional interior design organizations.
Your Field Education Options
Students have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through work-integrated learning opportunities, where possible, embedded in studio projects. Students also develop practical skills by participating in a capstone project in the program’s final two semesters.

Program Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Comply with building, sustainability and accessibility laws, codes, standards and practices that impact fire and life safety, and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.
- Evaluate sustainability and performance criteria in the specification of furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials and technologies for interior spaces and assemblies.
- Enhance the health, safety, welfare, and performance of building occupants by specifying appropriate lighting and acoustics, and considering issues of thermal comfort, indoor air quality, and water and waste systems.
- Produce accurate construction drawings, specifications and documents using industry standards and systems to fully convey the construction methodologies and design proposal for interior spaces.
- Analyze interiors, architecture, decorative arts and art within global, historical, economic, ecological and cultural contexts.
- Incorporate open-minded and global perspectives in the search for creative design solutions.
- Use a variety of research methodologies to address complex design problems to develop solutions that respond to client needs.
- Analyze client needs and goals, using human-centred theories to inform psychological and physiological influences and their effects on the physical environment.
- Generate creative solutions by applying the design process and design thinking methodologies.
- Employ the theories, psychologies and methodologies of light and colour in relation to their psychological impact and human well-being.
- Effectively communicate the design proposal and conceptual intent in 2D and 3D using a variety of media and rendering techniques.
- Engage and collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams employing professional communication practices in interaction and negotiation with coworkers, consultants, contractors, clients, end-users and others.
