"George Brown graduates bring practical knowledge, experience and sensitivity to their work environment."

Lessons in community engagement
Education at George Brown happens in collaboration with the community and with industry. This is especially true in the George Brown College School of Social and Community Services where we have over 300 partnerships with external organizations. These valuable connections benefit everyone—students, the community and businesses.
Building a stronger Toronto through applied learning means keeping the conversation open and fluid. One way the School of Social and Community Services does this is through our Program Advisory Committees. Consisting of employers, agency representatives, members of the community and alumni, these leaders advise us on current issues and trends to keep the curriculum strong and relevant.
Making research and curriculum relevant
Serving the community through education means making research available and meaningful to those who need it. The George Brown College School of Social and Community Services conducts community-based research with agency partners that has immediate practical value both inside and outside of the classroom.
Faculty and students are involved in community based research that informs policy development and professional practice. Students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty developing skills that can be applied to further education opportunities.
To respond to changes in the workplace, George Brown has launched a Career Development Practitioner program. This one-year postgraduate certificate program teaches students how to support their clients through a variety of career transitions. Students learn how to advise on job search, career planning, career choice and chance, academic training and more.
