Continuing Education ESL Pathway to George Brown College Certificates and Diplomas will help you meet the minimum English Language admissions requirement for any of George Brown's full-time Ontario College Certificate or Diploma programs. This pathway is available within George Brown College only.

George Brown College’s English as a Second Language (ESL) (Part-Time) Certificate is an accelerated hybrid program to develop your English language skills for personal, professional and academic purposes. With eight levels catering to every skill level, from low beginner to advanced, you’ll find your perfect fit. Each level runs for six weeks and includes a mix of activities that will strengthen your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. You’ll also get to choose from an array of elective courses tailored to your unique needs, for a personalized learning experience.

George Brown College’s English for Professional Success Certificate will give you the English language skills you need to succeed in Canada's highly competitive workplace. By polishing your verbal, listening and written communication skills, this part-time program will build your confidence in personal and professional interactions. If you’re a non-native speaker and have advanced-level English skills, this program is for you.Please note: Classes are delivered in-person during evenings and weekends to accommodate working professionals.

George Brown College’s English for Academic Purposes for International Students (EAP) (R115) will help you level up your English language skills as an international student. We’ll prepare you for your exciting journey into post-secondary study and future careers. Our EAP program will not only help you improve your English language skills but will help open doors to a vibrant student life that includes exciting co- and extracurricular events and workshops.

George Brown College’s General Arts and Science – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (R105) will help you level up your English language skills – whether you’re a newcomer with permanent resident status, refugee status, or already have Canadian citizenship. We’ll prepare you for your exciting journey into post-secondary study and future careers. Our EAP program not only helps you improve your English but also opens doors to a vibrant student life with exciting co- and extracurricular events and workshops.

The General Arts and Science (One-Year) certificate program will help strengthen your skills for future academic study and entry into the workplace. Over two semesters, you’ll study a range of foundational subject areas that will help you build confidence as you develop critical thinking and information literacy skills. After graduation, you can apply to other post-secondary programs, including George Brown's R101 – a diploma program with several advanced standing pathways to a variety of university degree programs.

Academic Upgrading (A751) is a tuition-free program designed to reduce barriers to accessing and succeeding in post-secondary education. If you're a mature student who hasn't completed grade 12 and wants to obtain a certificate, diploma, or degree, then this program is for you.Through a personalized assessment, we'll identify your strengths and areas for growth. You'll then participate in targeted learning activities to enhance your skills, which may include reading, writing, math, and/or science. We also offer individual counselling supports, along with academic and career advising.With multiple intakes throughout the year and options for full-time or part-time study, our program is tailored to accommodate your personal needs. You'll need to complete a reading and writing assessment to make sure the program is the right fit for you and that you receive the proper placement.PLEASE NOTE: Applicants will have the choice between courses offered in-person and online, subject to availability. Registered students who are regularly attending the program may be eligible to receive a transportation subsidy, a netbook, and/or monthly Internet device.

Academic Upgrading for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Adults (A752) is a tuition-free program for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students who want to upgrade their English, ASL, and math for success in further education, training, or employment.PLEASE NOTE: Students will have the choice to take some courses either in-person (on-campus) or online, subject to availability. Registered students who are regularly attending the program may be eligible to receive a transportation subsidy, a netbook, and/or monthly Internet device.

The College Vocational one-year certificate program is for students who identify mild intellectual disability or neurodiversity as a barrier to being successful in the workplace. Our inclusive program will help you develop your skills in the areas of communication, teamwork, self-awareness, self-advocacy and give you the confidence to achieve your goals. Apply to this program if you have graduated from high school with an Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC) or Diploma (OSSD) and workplace credits.

Construction Craft Worker (A106) is a free 18-week supported education program for students who identify mental health and/or addictions challenges as a barrier to education and employment. In a hands-on, small group setting, with experiential work opportunities and job-coaching support, you'll develop the skills you need for entry-level work in Toronto's construction industry. This program was developed in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and is unique in Canada.

George Brown College’s Culinary Skills (A110) is a free, supportive program designed to help those who face mental health or addiction challenges reach their education and employment goals. We'll prepare you for entry-level work in Toronto's food service industry through a combination of small-group learning, job coaching support, and experiential work opportunities.

In a supportive learning environment, you will strengthen your academic skills and be ready for an entry-level role in human services or further education in a variety of human services-related diploma programs. You will study sociology and psychology and improve your communication and teamwork skills, while understanding how systemic issues affect individuals and communities. Together with classmates, you'll explore personal and professional goals and career pathway options for a successful career in human services.

We'll guide you in mapping out your educational pathway, ensuring that you're on track to achieve your career goals. PLEASE NOTE: If you're aiming to fulfill the admission prerequisites needed to apply to a one-year certificate or two-year diploma health sciences program, apply to our Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program.

Eligible for Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): YesCIP code: 51.1199Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas is a one-year program that will prepare you for admission to a variety of Health Sciences certificate and diploma programs, including our Practical Nursing (S121) program. You’ll take courses in biology, chemistry, applied math, communications, career readiness preparation and general electives. You’ll also benefit from the support of a pathway specialist who will help you navigate college and create a realistic action plan for the next steps in your education. PLEASE NOTE: If you’re interested in pursuing a three-year advanced diploma or four-year degree program at the college or university level, you should apply to our Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees (A108) program.

Transitions to Post-Secondary Education (A107) is a free, supportive, three-semester program that helps those who face mental health or addictions challenges reach their education and employment goals.
