This program examines applications and examples of automated manufacturing systems, including both the theory and function of digital and industrial electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics, robotics systems, programming languages and alarm management. This program is often of interest to people who want to study electronics with an emphasis on mechanical systems, for example, someone coming from a millwright background. The program covers mechanical topics outside of a typical electronics program, like industrial control devices, DC and AC motors and control circuits, transformers, analog and digital transducers, industrial process control and PLCs.Advanced StandingIf you have finished the Electronics Technician program, you are exempted from 18 modules of the Electromechanical Technician program.

International StudentsThis online distance program does not qualify for study/work permit (including PGWP) eligibility in Canada.This program focuses on the skills needed to assemble, install, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment used by consumers, businesses and industry. Students learn electronics theory and how to work with circuits and the various components of electronic systems such as capacitors, resistors, semiconductors and amplifiers. The focus is on a broad understanding of the field that students can then apply to specific areas of interest or employment.

This 14-week Mechanical Techniques certificate program is specifically designed to complement university engineering students’ theoretical knowledge with applied practical techniques. Topics include manufacturing protocol, engineering drawing, solid modelling (Solidworks), precision machining, quality control, CNC machining with Mastercam, pneumatics/electro-pneumatic circuits and microprocessor control systems. Coursework emphasizes practical techniques through applied learning and hands-on lab activities.

The program covers the operation of various PLC control systems, including both discrete and analog control devices. The simulation software, PLCLogix 500, which is included with the program, simulates the Rockwell RSLogix 500 series of PLCs.Advanced StandingIf you have finished the PLC Technician II program, you are exempted from 7 modules of the PLC Technician program.

The PLCLogix 5000 simulator integrated within the program emulates the Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000 programming applications and features 3D simulation and advanced programming.Advanced StandingIf you have finished the PLC Technician program, you will receive credit for exemptions from seven modules of the PLC Technician II program.
