George Brown College students dominated at the Construction Institute of Canada’s 2019 Simulated Student Bid competition, sweeping three of the four categories.
The competition included four competition categories: most accurate and complete, closest to target, innovation and most professional. Student teams from our Construction Management program won first, second and third place in three categories (see winning teams listed below). The awards gala was held April 16 in Toronto.
The 2019 challenge included 74 teams from seven colleges and universities from across Canada—including 34 teams from George Brown under the supervision of professors Tulsi Regmi and Rasha At-Attar.
The competition aims to help students understand and gain experience in the construction bidding and estimating process. Competitors must submit complete bids based on contract documents for a complex building project. Industry professionals evaluate the submissions. This year’s bid was a $29-million, 162,000 square-foot indoor soccer facility located in Winnipeg.
