George Brown College’s 33rd Annual Labour Fair

What Are We Working For!?!

Monday March 24th – Friday March 28th, 2025

What is the Labour Fair?

George Brown College’s Labour Fair is an event like no other in terms of its scope, size and breadth. This annual fair profiles the labour movement to the broader George Brown community, but has been specifically designed for our student population.

It is:

  • An annual week-long event that brings trade union and activists to college classrooms across our 3 campuses.
  • An opportunity for students to hear union perspectives on issues and challenges facing the sectors they are training for and strategies for labour organizing.
  • Topics in workers’ rights and social justice are presented through online and in-person keynote speakers and interactive discussion panels, podcast recordings and the arts.

The Labour Fair focuses on the importance of unions to the rights and dignity of workers, to the well-being of communities and to narrowing the gap between wealth and poverty in our society. We shed light on struggles against classism, racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, colonialism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and other forms of economic and social injustice that shift power to the rich and their corporations while leaving people and planet behind. And we celebrate in the remarkable ability of people to build a more hopeful future when united in passion, solidarity and power.
