If you apply for college-wide or divisional awards, you only need to submit one application per term to be considered for most of them. Also, you can resubmit your fall application for the winter and spring semesters in the same academic year.

The 51 Division Community Police Liaison Committee has donated funds for the establishment of the 51 Division CPLC Scholarship. The award is available to all full-time students who have demonstrated a commitment to working with others.

Aditya Jha awards - Entrance Scholarship
Aditya Jha / POA Educational Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Aditya Jha Entrance Scholarship. The award is available to students in all programs in their first year of study.

Aditya Jha Entrepreneurship Scholarship
Aditya Jha / POA Educational Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Aditya Jha Entrepreneurship Scholarship. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study.

Aditya Jha Scholarship
Aditya Jha / POA Educational Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Aditya Jha Scholarship. The award is available to all full-time students who demonstrate their passion for their field of study.

Alfred Eli Memorial Bursary
President's Office has donated funds for the establishment of the Alfred Eli Memorial Bursary. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study.

Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs Scholarship
Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs has donated funds for the establishment of the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs Scholarship. The award is available to students in any program in first or second year of study.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
- Student must be member of Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs
- Resume and paragraph
- Ability to speak one of the Chinese languages
Award for Community Service
Anne MacKenzie-Thompson has donated funds for the establishment of the Award for Community Service. This award is available for all registered students at George Brown College in any year of study for all programs

Black Student Technology Resource Award
The Black Student Technology Resource Award is a collaborative, College-wide initiative, supported by George Brown College’s Anti-Racism Strategy, and is one initiative to address the significant barriers to post-secondary education experienced by Black students. The Black Student Technology Resource Award (BSTRA) will be awarded annually in the Fall semester to one self-identifying Black student in each of George Brown College’s seven schools. Each award-winning student will be awarded one new laptop, set up for use in the student’s program and according to student need, by George Brown College’s Information Technology department. This laptop will be awarded for permanent use.
Criteria for Award:
- Full-time students at any year level enrolled in a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree program
- Domestic students
- Demonstration of need for award
- Students are required to provide two letters of recommendation:
- Each recommendation letter may be provided by a supervisor, mentor, community or spiritual leader or other significant person in the student’s life. The recommendation letters should speak to the student’s potential, and how accessing the Black Student Technology Award would support them in their pursuit of their academic goals.

Black Student Divisional Scholarship
The Black Student Divisional Scholarship is a collaborative, College-wide initiative, supported by George Brown College’s Anti-Racism Strategy, and is one initiative to address the significant barriers to post-secondary education experienced by Black students. The Black Student Divisional Scholarship (BSDS) will be awarded annually in the Fall semester to six self-identifying Black students in each of George Brown College’s seven schools. The scholarship-winning student will be awarded one of two scholarships valued at $2,000 each (must be a new student entering first year) OR one of four scholarships valued at $1,000 each (must be a returning student entering second, third, or final year).
Criteria for Award:
- Full-time students at any year level enrolled in a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree program
- Domestic students
- Demonstration of need for award
- Students are required to provide two letters of recommendation:
- Each recommendation letter may be provided by a supervisor, mentor, community or spiritual leader or other significant person in your life and can speak to the potential of the students’ participation in their program.

Children's Aid Foundation Scholarship
The Catholic Children's Aid Foundation (CCAS) has donated funds for the establishment of the Catholic Children's Aid Scholarship.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Student must display financial need
- A current Crown Ward who is eligible to receive or is currently receiving Continued Care and Support for Youth from CCAS
OR - Were a Crown Wards who received funding from the CCAS and returned to their birth family or were adopted.
CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program
The CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program provides financial support to first time college and institute students that demonstrate financial need and who often face greater challenges and barriers to participate and complete post-secondary education.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- The student is enrolled full time in the first or second year of a multi-year program at George Brown College.
- Note: This must be the first time that the student will be attending a post-secondary institution.
- The student must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, permanent resident, or a protected person.
- The student must demonstrate financial need, challenges and barriers to attending a college or institute, impact that the bursary will have on the ability to attend a college or institute, and community involvement
- Three letters of support from people who know the student. This can include a past or current employer, a teacher, a college administrator, a member of a community or campus organization, someone involved in student services or a faculty member.

Clifford Lloyd 40th Anniversary Scholarship
This fund has been created to support the advancement of the education of GBC students. The award is available to full-time students in any year of their program who meet the following criteria:
- Domestic student
- Student must display financial need
- Student must participate and contribute to the George Brown College community
The Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship (In Memory of Nicola Kettlitz)
The Coca-Cola company has donated funds for the establishment of The Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship in memory of Nicola Kettlitz. The award is available to first generation students enrolled full-time in all programs.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Student must display financial need
- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
- Student must demonstrated leadership.
Context and Toronto Community Housing Entrance Scholarship
Context Development Inc. has donated funds for the establishment of the Context and Toronto Community Housing Entrance Scholarship. The award is available to students in their First year of study. Preference will be given to applicants entering the trades program or a bridging program.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
Dana and Doug Turnbull Scholarship
Dana and Doug Turnbull have donated funds for the establishment of the Dana and Doug Turnbull Scholarship. The award is available to all full-time students who were either temporary or permanent wards under the custody and protection of a Canadian Child Welfare Agency or Children's Aid Society.

De La Salle Bursary
Vince Thompson has donated funds for the establishment of the De La Salle Bursary. The Award is available to students in the Centre for Community Services, Health Sciences and School of Work and College Preparation (in augmented education program)

Donald Willard Moore Scholarship
Donald Willard Moore Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Donald Willard Moore Scholarship. The award is available to students in the Nursing and Business programs.
The purpose of the Donald Willard Moore Scholarship is to address the significant barriers that the Afro-Canadian and or Afro-Caribbean community faces in accessing post-secondary education.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Student must display financial need
- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
Dual Credit Scholarship
The Dual Credit Scholarship is available to students in all programs in their first year of study who completed a Dual Credit course with a GPA of 3.5 and are continuing their full-time studies at George Brown College the following year.

Elma McColm Scholarship
Multiple donors have donated funds for the establishment of the Elma McColm Scholarship. The award is available to students in any year of study.

First Generation Bursary
The Ontario Government has donated funds for the establishment of the First Generation Bursary. The award is available to all students in any year of study who are first generation students.

Frank Sorochinsky Scholarship
Frank Sorochinsky has donated funds for the establishment of the Frank Sorochinsky Scholarship. The award is available to all students in any year of study who have demonstrated volunteerism within the wider Toronto community.

- Student must display financial need
- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
GBC Downtown East Scholarship
Criteria:
- Student must be enrolled in their first year of a full-time program at GBC
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person Resident of Ontario for at least 12 months prior to enrollment
- Are the first in their family to attend post-secondary education (first generation student)
- Live in the downtown east Toronto area (within the area south of Bloor & west of Yonge & east of the Don River)
- Student must demonstrate financial need

George Brown College Finance Sustainability Scholarship
The George Brown College Finance department has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown College Finance Sustainability Scholarship. This award is available to registered, full-time domestic and/or international students who meet the following criteria:
- Must be in good academic standing with a minimum program GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrate an innovative idea related to environmental, social or economic sustainability through their applied research activity, in-class or capstone project
- Demonstrate a passion for their field of study
George Brown College Opportunity Award
The George Brown College Opportunity Award is available to all first-year who have faced obstacles.

George Brown College Seniors' Association Scholarship
GBC Seniors' Association has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown College Seniors' Association Scholarship. The award is available to all full-time students. Applicants must submit a 1-2 page essay demonstrating their interest in their chosen field of study, and how that interest will contribute to future employability.

Hébert Award for Volunteerism Scholarship
Margo Hébert has donated funds for the establishment of the Hébert Award for Volunteerism Scholarship. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study.

Hope for Children Foundation Scholarship
Maurice Conway has donated funds for the establishment of the Hope for Children Foundation Scholarship. The award is available to all full-time students who can demonstrate that they are either:
- A current Crown Ward who is eligible to receive or is currently receiving Continued Care and Support for Youth from the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto or
- Students who were Crown Wards who received funding from the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto and returned to their birth family or were adopted.
Indigenous Student Bursary
Ontario Government has donated funds for the establishment of the Indigenous Post-Secondary Education Bursary. The award is available to Indigenous students in all programs in any year of study.

James Foss Ricci Endowment Award of Excellence
James Foss Ricci has donated funds for the establishment of the Jean Augustine Scholarship. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study. To be eligible for the award students must demonstrate that they are sole support parents who have overcome obstacles in achieving their educational goals.

Jean Augustine Scholarship
Jean Augustine has donated funds for the establishment of the Jean Augustine Scholarship. Koehler Family Scholarship
Hope for Children has donated funds for the establishment of the Koehler Family Scholarship. The award is available to full-time students in any year of study.

Leen Li Scholarship
The Leen Li Scholarship was created to support the advancement of the education of students at George Brown College who meet the following criteria.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be registered, full-time domestic and/or international student or;
- Have submitted and application for full-time studies at George Brown College and received a GBC student number
- Demonstrated financial need
- Must self-identify as female
- Must self-identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color.
- Must self-identify as first-generation learners

Liz Henriques Award for Single Parents
Liz Henriques, a longtime member of George Brown College with over two decades of service, has created this award to support single parents pursuing their education. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Student must be a single parent
- Student must not be on academic probation
- Student must demonstrate financial need
- Student must provide a short essay explaining their experience as a single parent
Maurice Conway Scholarship
Hope for Children has donated funds for the establishment of the Maurice Conway Scholarship. The award is available to students who have demonstrated that they have overcome obstacles while seeking success in their program.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation Endowment Award
Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation Award. The award is available to all full-time students in second year or higher who have demonstrated that they have overcome obstacles.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Student must display financial need
Ontario Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship
In response to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, on April 6, 2022, the province announced the creation of a scholarship “Ontario Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship” to support students who are impacted by the war and other crises globally and are attending George Brown College. The scholarship will be awarded to 4 successful students during the 2022-2023 academic year and are based on merit and financial need beginning in September 2022. Student must apply online through Stu-view.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in full-time or part-time academic studies for the 2022-2023 academic year
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must demonstrate merit which can include academic achievement and community service
Pepsi Bottling Group Scholarship
Pepsi Bottling Company has donated funds for the establishment of the Pepsi Bottling Group Scholarship. The award is available to students who have demonstrated that they have overcome obstacles while seeking success in their program and who are judged to demonstrate a dedication to area of study.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Student must display financial need
Peter Madaka Scholarship
Friends of Peter Madaka have come together to create a scholarship in Peter’s memory. Peter was a dear friend, beloved teacher and dedicated community activist who passed away in 2020.
To honour his legacy, a scholarship has been created in his name.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Registered full-time student.
- Student demonstrates financial need.
- Student has demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Preference for award given to students who self-identify as Black, those who have a Refugee status, and/or to those who are International students.
Pinball Clemons Foundation Annual Student Award
Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Michael "Pinball" Clemons Annual Student Award. The award is available to students who meet the following criteria:
- Domestic or international
- Full-time or part-time course load
- Student must display financial need
- Priority for student participating at Youth Without Shelter, Youth Association for Academics, Athletics and Character Education, Pinball Clemons Ambassador School
Positive Space Scholarship
Various donors have donated funds for the establishment of the Positive Space Scholarship. To be eligible for the award students must demonstrate that they have promoted the recognition & celebration of sexual and gender diversity. Student must show commitment to creating a college community that is free of discrimination and harassment based on gender and sexual identity.
Project Hero Scholarship
Project Hero is a scholarship initiative to support the dependent children of fallen soldiers of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Registered as a full time student
- A dependent of a Canadian Armed Forces personnel deceased while serving in an active mission or suicide attributable to military service
- Under the age of twenty six
- Maintain satisfactory academic standing, as per program requirements
Raven Rising Pastry Arts Scholarship
The Raven Rising Pastry Arts Scholarship for Indigenous students has committed to providing one Indigenous student each year $1,500 to help with educational costs.
Rudy and Rita Koehler Award
Rudy & Rita Koehler has donated funds for the establishment of the Rudy and Rita Koehler Award. The award is available to students in 75% HS and 25% college-wide program in any year of study.
Student must overcome obstacles; demonstrated academic improvement and/or educational achievements.

Rutherford Family Foundation Indigenous Leadership Award
The Rutherford Family Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Rutherford Family Foundation Indigenous Leadership Award. The award is available to full-time domestic students who meet the following criteria:
- Self-identify as Indigenous
- Minimum program GPA of 2.0
- Demonstrate community involvement and leadership through various means such as volunteer experience, involvement with the College and the Indigenous community
- Enrolled in a program at the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technology, Centre for Business, or Culinary Management program with the Chef School at the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts
Scholarship for Aboriginal Students
Funds have been donated for the establishment of the Scholarship for Aboriginal Students. The award is available to all full-time students who self-identify as First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or otherwise part of the indigenous peoples of Canada or as having Aboriginal ancestry or heritage. Student demonstrates willingness to help others and openness to learn, has overcome obstacles to undertake their studies.
Scholarship for New Canadians
Funds have been donated for the establishment of the Scholarship for New Canadians. The award is available to students (PR, PP or refugee claimants) in all programs in any year of study. Student demonstrates willingness to help others and openness to learn, has overcome obstacles to undertake their studies.
Scholarship for Sole-Support Parents
Funds have been donated for the establishment of the Scholarship for Sole-Support Parents is available to students in all programs in any year of study. Student demonstrates willingness to help others and openness to learn, as overcome obstacles to undertake their studies. The student must be a single parent.
Scotiabank and the Scotiabank Bursaries
Scotiabank and the Scotiabank Bursaries have graciously provided $100,000 (100 bursaries at $1,000 each) for Indigenous, Black, and Racialized students.

Simon Fiandaca Memorial Scholarship
Hope for Children has donated funds for the establishment of the Simon Fiandaca Memorial Scholarship. The award is available to current or former ward of Catholic Children's Aid Society; demonstrates revolve to overcome obstacles and strives to do his or her best; demonstrates community involvement and the desire to help others. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study.

Sun Life Dean Connor Inclusion Scholarship Program for Black and Indigenous Students
The Inclusion Scholarship & Internship program intends to support Black and Indigenous youth in Canada, providing both financial assistance and practical work experience as they start their careers. This Scholarship and Internship aims to help students get financial support, an exciting internship in a global financial institution, mentorship and professional coaching from the management team, and the possibility of a full-time employment opportunity with Sun Life following graduation.
There is a total of up to twenty (20) possible combined Scholarships and Internships to be made available for eligible participants to apply for, with each student limited to one (1) such Scholarship and Internship, although fewer than twenty (20) may be awarded depending upon the number of successful applicants.
The scholarships are $5,000 CAD per year, available for one (1) academic year per applicant and include a four (4) month paid summer internship with Sun Life from May 2024 to August 2024. In addition, the successful recipient will also receive career and professional mentorship from Sun Life during the internship. This comes with support for the successful recipient to identify any future opportunities within Sun Life which may be of interest and to apply for and potentially transition to a full-time role with Sun Life following the internship.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a member of the Black and/or Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples) communities.
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Be entering the second, third or fourth year of their program in an eligible institution (as defined below);
- Have a minimum cumulative average of 70% (2.70 GPA or B-average) over the last three terms of available marks in their program at an eligible institution.
- Be legally entitled to work and complete a full-time summer internship in either of our offices in Toronto, Waterloo, or Montreal. As a hybrid organization, employees may at times be permitted to work remotely outside of a Sun Life office and, depending upon the role, this may be available to a full-time summer internship position as well if deem appropriate by Sun Life.
- If selected, applicants must also pass all required background checks and other prerequisites which may be necessary to work a full-time summer internship with Sun Life. Failure to meet these requirements, in Sun Life’s sole and absolute discretion, may deem an applicant ineligible and/or result in the withdrawal of the Scholarship and Internship.

The application process is as follows:
1. The applicant submits an online application via and including:
(a) A 500-word personal essay, or a 3-5 minute video essay in support of their candidacy about the following topic: Tell us about yourself and what winning this scholarship and the internship position would mean to you.
(b) A current, one page resume, including non-curricular activities that could be relevant or important to the applicant for the purpose of this Scholarship and Internship.
(c) Unofficial transcripts of academic records from the applicant’s current program.
2. The application, including all supporting documentation, must be submitted to SPC no later than 1:00 PM EST, November 17th, 2023.
3. Documents will be reviewed by SPC staff to ensure all requirements have been met.
4. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged by email following processing by SPC.
5. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all supporting documents have been received by visiting the website to review their application status. If any supporting documentation is not submitted within the specified timeframe, the application may be subject to disqualification.
6. Account maintenance will be conducted online.
7. The application will then be reviewed and assessed, and applicants will be notified if they were successful or not.
The student will need to add awards@univcan.ca to their safe senders in their junk email options so they can continue to receive important messages from SPC.
Supporting Documentation
The supporting documentation described below is required as part of the application. If any of these documents are not received or are incomplete, the application itself will be considered incomplete. SPC will send a final follow-up email to the applicant on November 13th, 2023, requesting any missing or incomplete documentation. Any applicant submitting supporting documents after this date will not receive a follow-up email. Supporting documents must be received by SPC on or before 1:00 PM EST, November 17th, 2023 for an application to be considered.
Personal Statement
The statement can be submitted in written or video format and must answer the following: Tell us about yourself and what winning this scholarship and the internship position would mean to you. Written statements can be up to 500 words or video submissions can be up to 3 minutes in length.
Curriculum Vitae

Megan Carter Scholarship
OPSEU Local 557 has donated funds for the establishment of the Support Staff Supporting Student Scholarship. This award is available for all registered students at George Brown College in any year of study for all programs.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
Student must write a 1000 word essay on the subject of "What can Unions do to involve and engage Young workers?"
Susan Stylianos Scholarship
Susan Stylianos has donated funds for the establishment of the Susan Stylianos Scholarship. The award is available to all full-time students who are actively involved in the college as a peer leader or those who have a history of campus volunteerism
- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college)
TCHC Scholarship Endowment
The Toronto Community Housing Corporation has donated funds for the TCHC Scholarship. The award is available for domestic students enrolled in any program at GBC.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Enrolled full-time
- Minimum GP A of 2.5
- Students who are a resident of Toronto Community Housing
- Students must display financial need
- Students must demonstrate leadership qualities through various means (i.e. volunteer community service and/or related in-school activities)
TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Alumni Award
Alumni Association has donated funds for the establishment of the TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Alumni Award. The award is available to students in all programs in any year of study, who have overcome obstacles.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Student must display financial need
- The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
- Student must show commitment to field of study
Tom Janes Memorial Scholarship
Lembit Janes has donated funds for the establishment of the Tom Janes Memorial Scholarship. This award is available for all registered students at George Brown College in any year of study for all programs.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- The student must maintain a 3.0 Min GPA or higher
- The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)
- The student must have a family member that is a former employee of Janes Family Foods LTD
Wealthsimple Foundation CLB Bursary
The Wealthsimple Foundation would like to designate an award to students enrolled full-time at George Brown College starting in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year and ending in the 2025-2026 academic year. One (1) award of $5,000.00 will be presented annually to one (1) full-time student. The student recipient selected in the 2022-2023 academic year will receive this award for each following year they are enrolled.
The following criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Registered, full-time, domestic student
- Starting in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.
- Be in their first year of studies
- Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Must be a recipient of the Canada Learning Bond (CLB) through the Canadian Government (a copy of your CLB statement must be sent to awards@georgebrown.ca)

Xerox Scholarship, Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO)
Xerox Canada Ltd. has donated funds for the establishment of the Xerox Scholarship. The award is available to students in all programs enrolled through The Pogo Transitions Program or if ceases to operate, another program with similar objectives. Preference may be given to students from program/services for Indigenous students or students transitioning from the College's mental health program cluster.

- Student must display financial need
Yonge Street Mission Education Endowment Award
Yonge Street Mission has donated funds for the establishment of the Yonge Street Mission Education Endowment Award. The recipient will be an active participant in a Yonge Street Mission program or branch and be a full-time student.
