We are pleased to announce that a new Con Ed ESL pathway to George Brown certificate and diploma programs has been established by the School of English as a Second Language, in conjunction with the Admissions Department at George Brown College.
Con Ed ESL Pathway Courses
This Con Ed ESL Pathway is effective for programs starting in September 2015 and applies to certificate, diploma and postgraduate (without co-op) programs at George Brown College only. This will enable Con Ed graduates (as outlined below) to meet the minimum English language admission requirement, after successful completion of the following mandatory courses:
- ESL 9068 ESL IIIB ADVANCED
- ESL 9073 Advanced Grammar and Composition Skills
- ESL 9069 Advanced Essay Writing
- ESL 9078 Academic Preparation for College/University Studies OR ESL 9077 IELTS Exam Preparation
This would eliminate the need for the Con Ed graduates to write TOEFL, IELTS or the GBC English Admissions assessment in order to meet the minimum English requirement for certificate, diploma or postgraduate (without co-op) programs.
Please note that completion of the Con Ed ESL courses listed above does not guarantee entrance into the GBC program. Con Ed ESL graduates will be considered and ranked among the other applicants to their program (s) of choice, and would also need to fulfil any other requirements specific to that program (e.g. math, science).
