Biography
Peter Widdis is tenured faculty and an academic program coordinator in postgraduate studies. He is a full-time marketing professor whose passion lies in teaching, research & innovation practices. Peter’s enterprising journey crosses Academia, CPG, New Products, Sports, Creative Media, Design, Hospitality and Philanthropy.
When Peter enters any educational setting — physically, virtually, or experientially — he does not see chairs, tables, or media fixtures. Instead, he sees a playground to facilitate real-world learning with a pedagogical twist.
Timeless achievements include visiting CBC’s Dragons’ Den with an IT start-up, marketing agency L&D programming as well as establishing Campbell's® “sipping•soups” line of products by introducing the Soup at Hand® experience; celebrated for R&D originality by Nielsen, the Canadian Grand Prix Awards as well as SIAL International. At Mondelēz Cadbury® Peter worked with NBA great Vince Carter to make the "Mr. Big® is VC” experiential CSR and Double-Dunk® chocolate bar, an IEG case study and ESPN feature; memorabilia live in the Cadbury® Museum.
A President’s Award-Winning professor, Peter is one of our sport & event commerce experts. He is also recognized institution-wide for his thought leadership and natural propensity for creativity & innovation. Peter’s expertise is shared in national media including, Toronto Star, CTV, BNN Bloomberg, Globe & Mail and The New York Times.
Being a dual professional, when Peter’s not on campus he creates intellectual property (IP) behind the scenes on new ventures from Toronto to Silicon Valley. Of particular interest his Profpreneur™ leadership philosophy is profiled in Maclean’s guide to Canada’s universities & colleges. Peter also enjoys guest speaking with organizations such as Disneyland USA, Rogers Media, Stratovation and TiE Institute.
Student empathy is at the core of Peter’s teaching philosophy. He steers student careers everyday by striving to make learning endless in every way.
