Biography
Janine LeFort is a sustainability-focused educator and process improvement expert who bridges the gap between operational efficiency and environmental stewardship. As a PhD candidate in Environmental Applied Science and Management at Toronto Metropolitan University, her research aims to revolutionize the Canadian pallet industry through innovative applications of life cycle analysis and Green Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
With over two decades of experience in merchandising, supply chain, global sourcing, and digital operations, Janine is known for her ability to build and implement cross-functional processes through relationship building. As a forward thinker, she completed her Masters in Distance Education at Athabasca University, recognizing the growing importance of digital learning environments with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) components. At George Brown College, where she serves as a full-time professor, she develops and delivers a UDL curriculum that integrates environmental considerations into international business and supply chain management, emphasizing the critical intersection of operational excellence and ecological responsibility. Recognized as an exceptional teacher, she has a unique ability to simplify complex concepts for her students.
Throughout her career at Canadian Tire Corporation, one of Canada's leading retailers, Janine led numerous continuous improvement initiatives that optimized resource utilization and eliminated waste. Her multi-disciplinary approach improved operational efficiency, ensured regulatory compliance, decreased lead times, and enhanced team communication structures. Her expertise in Lean Six Sigma has helped organizations transform their processes to reduce environmental impact while maintaining business performance.
