George Brown College (GBC) Alumni Relations, in collaboration with the School of Fashion and Jewellery, launched the GBC Fashion and Jewellery alumni chapter this February. This initiative creates a dynamic network that connects alumni, faculty, and students through professional, social, academic, and philanthropic initiatives.

"It's been over 20 years since I graduated from George Brown, and I've maintained my connection to the school because it gave me the foundation and confidence to succeed in my career," explained Sabrina Harding, chapter co-chair.

New network connects industry professionals, students, and faculty

The launch event welcomed alumni and friends back to campus to celebrate the newly formed chapter, which is led by a committee of dedicated volunteers, including co-chairs Luis Enrique Matute and Sabrina Harding, treasurer Jayeeta Ray, and GBC Fashion Studies Field Education Officer and Advisor Michelle Walc. Support from Ana Rita Morais, Dean of the Centre for Arts, Design and Information Technology, and Rosa Fracassa, Associate Dean of the School of Fashion & Jewellery, has been instrumental in the chapter's formation.

Alumni showcase highlights professional success

A highlight of the launch was the unveiling of special display cabinets featuring creations from distinguished alumni David Dunkley, CEO & Creative Director of David Dunkley Fine Millinery, and Amanda Henderson, Goldsmith & Designer at Jewelust.

Amanda Henderson, whose work was showcased at the event, emphasized the chapter's value: "When we connect as a community, we create a ripple effect that strengthens our careers and enriches the entire industry. The support I've received from fellow alumni throughout my journey has been invaluable," she said. “I’m excited to see how this chapter fosters even more collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship for both new grads and established professionals.”
