George Brown Degree Entrance Scholarship terms & conditions
The following terms and conditions govern the awarding and administration of George Brown College Degree entrance scholarships.
- Eligible Programs: All George Brown College’s undergraduate degree programs are eligible for this scholarship, with the exception of the following three programs which are excluded.
- S118 Bachelor of Science Nursing (collaborative degree with TMU)
- C118 (collaborative diploma-degree with Toronto Metropolitan University)
- S305 Honours Bachelor of Science (Dental Hygiene) - starting in May 2025
- Eligible Semester and Score: Students starting an eligible George Brown undergraduate degree program in the first semester with admissions score of 80 or higher.
- Amount of Awards: The amount of scholarships will range from $1,000 – $2,500 per year in accordance with the following:

- Selection Criteria: Automatically awarded based on admission score as calculated by the Office of the Registrar.
- Conditions and Criteria for Initial Eligibility:
- The College has allocated entrance scholarships for degree programs to newly-admitted students entering their first year of eligible undergraduate degree program.
- Eligibility will be assessed based on the grades used to determine the student’s admission score for the degree program. The student’s admission score will be calculated to one decimal place.
- The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements for the scholarship on Day 10 of the initial term of the scholarship.
- Award recipients are required to provide their SIN or ITN for T4A tax reporting purposes as mandated by Canada Revenue Agency. Students who do not provide this information will have the scholarship revoked by end of Semester 1.
- Students must be registered in, and complete a full‐time course load (60% or more).*
*Cases pertaining to students registered with Accessible Learning Services will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Conditions and Criteria for Renewability:
- Eligibility for scholarship renewal will be assessed at the end of each academic year and based on the student’s final GPA for the previous year (average of previous two terms).
- Students must maintain a GPA of 3.70 or higher (average of previous two terms to qualify for scholarship renewal each year). The student’s GPA will be calculated to two decimal places.
- Students must be registered in, and complete a full time course load (60% or more).
- *Cases pertaining to students registered with Accessible Learning Services will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Students must remain registered as a full‐time student in consecutive years for the duration of their degree program.
If the student becomes ineligible for scholarship renewal, previously issued scholarship funds will remain as issued towards the student’s tuition fees. - Once you are eligible for the scholarship, you will be considered each year for eligibility.
- Any exceptions to the conditions of renewability will be at the discretion of the official designate of the Office of the Registrar.
- Maximum term for the scholarship is 4 years and valid for the first four years of study.
- Method of Award: Funds will be awarded once per year and applied directly to the student’s account balance. If there is no balance a refund will be issued to the student. Funds will be disbursed each year after Day 10 of Semester 1, Semester 3, Semester 5 and Semester 7.
- Method of Application: Application is not required; scholarship is assessed and awarded on offer of admission.
- Selection Committee: Not applicable ‐ selection is based on admission scores and the above‐stated conditions. Qualified students who meet all conditions and criteria will be awarded the scholarship.
- Communications: Eligible applicants will be notified of their eligibility by the Office of the Registrar prior to the start of term. After Day 10, the Awards office will confirm disbursement of funds to eligible students.
