We are celebrating the incredible group of George Brown College alums nominated for the annual Premier’s Awards, which honour the social and economic contributions of Ontario college graduates.
Our nominees and their continued success are big reasons to celebrate. The graduates highlighted through this year's nominations make positive impacts on their respective industries and inspire the entire George Brown College community.

Mike Yorke, nominated for the Apprenticeship Award
Mike graduated from the Carpentry Apprenticeship program and is currently Director of Public Affairs and Innovation at the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario. He has also co-founded the College of Carpenters and Allied Trades Inc.
Ray Williams, nominated for the Business Award
Ray graduated from the Culinary Arts program and is currently the Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Financial Markets at National Bank Financial. Believing that success should be used to benefit others, he also co-founded the Black Opportunity Fund to address systemic inequities.
Darrell Bowden, nominated for the Community Services Award
Darrell graduated from the Career and Work Counsellor program and has had a multi-faceted career in social justice, equity and inclusion in employment. He is currently the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management.
Sage Paul, nominated for the Creative Arts and Design Award
Sage is a graduate of the Fashion Techniques and Design program and is currently the Co-Founder, Executive, and Artistic Director of the bi-annual celebratory Indigenous Fashion Arts in Toronto.
Cassandra Koss, nominated for the Health Sciences Award
Cassandra Koss is an Interprofessional Complex & Long-Term Care program graduate and works as a Lifestyle Engagement Manager at V!VA Retirement Communities. As COVID confined residents to their rooms, she developed an innovative program allowing residents to use iPads to engage with each other.
Aliya Hirji, nominated for the Health Sciences Award
Aliya is a graduate of the Honours Bachelor of Technology-Construction Management program and works as Project Administrator at Govan Brown & Associates. She also spends her time giving back and volunteering at local organizations.
Eugene Filice, nominated for the Technology Award
Eugene graduated from the Construction Engineering Technician program and is Vice-President of Construction at Great Gulf.
