The OCAA (Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association) recognized the best soccer players from across the province prior to the start of the semi-final matches at the 2022 OCAA Men’s Soccer Championship breakfast banquet hosted by Humber College.

George Brown’s Mark Do Coito (second year) was awarded the OCAA Men’s Soccer East Division Defensive Player of the Year and named to the OCAA Men’s Soccer East Division First All-Star Team at the October 27 event. This season, Do Coito played in nine regular season games, where he scored seven goals earning 14 points and holds an impressive .722 shots on goal percentage. Do Coito was instrumental in getting the Huskies back to Provincials by scoring both goals in the team’s East/West crossover playoff match against Niagara College.

The recognition didn’t stop there for the Huskies. Abubaker Hussein (second year), Ethan Hunter (first year), Jason Alvarado (third year), Alon Steinbach (second year) and Mashhood Rehman (third year) were all named OCAA Men’s Soccer East Division Second Team All-Stars.

The Huskies will be in action again on Friday, October 28 and they will play the Seneca Sting in the second semi-final game, where the winner advances to play for gold. Both gold medal game contenders will qualify for the CCAA National Championship as Ontario holds the additional Wildcard entry.

The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan. The game will also be broadcast LIVE on the OCAA website.
