About Alusha
Alusha's passion for meeting new people, creating unforgettable events and her dedication to sustainability and inclusivity have made her a standout entrepreneur. Like so many entrepreneurs, Alusha honed her skills by working as an event planner within prestigious event organizations including the Distillery District, Royal Ontario Museum and Berkeley Church before starting her own company A Lush Affair.
Since founding A Lush Affair in 2015, she has brought her unpretentious and transparent approach to over 500 events and established the company as Canada’s first Certified B-Corporation event planning company.
A Lush Affair offers services for weddings, corporate, and personal events, believing in better practices for better experiences. Certified by the Wedding Planner Institute of Canada and the Project Management Institute, she curates inclusive, sustainable, and ethical events of all sizes.
As Canada’s first B-Corp event planning company, A Lush Affair inspires social and environmental action and prioritizes a healthier environment, food security, and stronger communities by minimizing waste and supporting local vendors. Corporate social responsibility is key to A Lush Affair but was born from the heart of Alusha, being an ethical entrepreneur, rooted in social justice.

Advanced diploma in Event planning and Destination Tourism, GBC School of Hospitality 2010, WPIC certified wedding planner and the first Certified B corporation event planning company in Canada.
What made you want to become an entrepreneur?
I became an entrepreneur because I love meeting new people and crafting exceptionally amazing events tailored to their visions. Working for myself allows me to provide personalized event planning services directly requested by clients, ensuring each celebration reflects their unique style and preferences. Founding A Lush Affair has been a fulfilling journey, allowing me to combine my passion for hospitality and people with the joy of creating memorable experiences that exceed expectations.
Why did you create your business?
I decided to start my own business after receiving numerous requests from clients at various venues I worked with who specifically wanted me to be their planner. Additionally, my experiences with difficult supervisors at previous jobs motivated me to want to create a positive work environment. I aimed to demonstrate that it is possible to be both an effective and compassionate leader, fostering a workplace, where staff are treated with respect and kindness.
What successes have you enjoyed so far with building your company?
Being Canada’s first-ever certified B-Corporation event planning company and providing an honest and transparent approach to event planning.
Having been able to plan and execute over 500 events in such a short period of time.
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
