Wow, what an amazing month startGBC has had. We are thrilled to announce that three startGBC student from George Brown College have launched their own tech companies and were recently invited to showcase their innovations at Collision 2024.
Collision, a premier global tech conference held in Toronto, is renowned for spotlighting cutting-edge technologies and trends in the industry. This event attracts industry leaders, distinguished speakers, and innovators from around the world, making a significant impact on the tech community globally. These students were chosen for their exceptional innovation and potential, effectively representing our program and institution. Congratulations, Godfrey, founder of Owujupe Inc., Myriam, co-founder of ORB by AP Red and Amir, founder of AI call assist.
The following week, startGBC and the GBC Office of Research and Innovation joined forces to host the Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Showcase (RIES) on June 25 at our waterfront campus. The event featured five Panel discussions with industry leaders, an Entrepreneur Alley highlighting the ventures of startGBC George Brown College students and alumni, and a showcase of innovative research projects. The crowning glory was ending with an amazing speed mentoring session with 8 top executives in various fields of work.
If you missed any of these events, don’t fear, we are putting the final touches on our fall programming. We are thrilled to announce that Pitch It GBC! will return with a prize pot of $12,000! Watch out for the August newsletter as applications will open in August! We will be hosting a series of events celebrating Women’s Entrepreneurship Week in October and Global Entrepreneurship Week in November.
