GBC joins educational institutions across the sector in celebrating Early Childhood Educators Appreciation Day on Thursday, October 24.

The college recognizes the vital role and outstanding contributions of more than 150 educators and staff members who serve approximately 1,000 children and families through its network of 12 Lab School Early Childhood Centres.

These dedicated professionals play dual roles in the community, nurturing young children and mentoring the next generation of Early Childhood Educators. Through their work with students in GBC's Early Childhood Programs, they help prepare future educators to meet the sector's growing demands.

"Our educators and staff are instrumental in giving children the best possible start in life," said Bernice Cipparone-McLeod, Director of the School of Early Childhood at GBC. "Their commitment extends beyond the classroom, as they guide children and aspiring educators toward success."

Building community through education

The celebration is part of a broader recognition of early childhood educators' vital contributions across the community, highlighting their essential role in early development and education.

GBC operates 12 college-managed childcare lab schools throughout Toronto. These lab schools offer students field placement opportunities to help them build confidence in their skills and gain practical experience. The college's approach to practical learning, supported by partnerships with Greater Toronto Area service agencies, ensures that graduates are well-prepared for successful careers in the growing field of early childhood education.
