Are you having trouble finding work? Have you been laid off and need to retrain? The Second Career program provides financial assistance so you can quickly learn new skills and start on a new career path.
The Second Career program provides up to $28,000 in funding to cover the costs of tuition, books, transportation costs, and living expenses. The funding is provided as a grant, so students don’t have to pay it back, and it gives you the opportunity to train for work in a growing field.
In 2021, the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) reduced the maximum program length requirement for Second Career funding to one year from two years, providing access to dozens of George Brown College programs in a wide range of industries, including Blockchain Development, Sport and Event Marketing, Residential Construction Management and many others.
Visit George Brown’s Second Career page to see the full list of one-year programs that meet Second Career’s training length criteria.
