Experiential learning presents a win-win situation for both students and employers. Students gain practical experience to hit the ground running in the workforce, and participating employers widen their talent pool.
Industry partnerships have long been a priority for George Brown College to ensure students develop relevant and practical skills and get real-world learning opportunities. Dario Guescini, George Brown College’s Director of Work Integrated Learning, Experiential Learning and Global Mobility, is featured in a recent article in the Globe and Mail highlighting the importance of work-integrated learning.
“If you ask any employer what they need [in an employee], they’ll tell you it’s critical thinking, communication, and empathy,” Guescini said. “Experiential education is there to ease the transition from school to the workplace.”

We’ve joined forces with 11 leading polytechnic institutions across the country and with Polytechnics Canada to promote the benefits of technical and applied education for students and industry. The Purpose, Applied campaign highlights how polytechnics like us promote innovation and contribute to economic growth.
The campaign also includes research that shows employers search for polytechnic graduates when hiring.
