Alan Dean and Kathy Kinnear have generously donated $50,000 to fund scholarships for students at the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies. The Dean Family Leadership in Construction Award will be awarded to two students each year, for the next five years.
Full-time students in the Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) program will be eligible to receive this award. Students must obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate leadership.
"It is our pleasure to support students who are active in their community," Dean said. "George Brown College provided our children with a great education and a support network that has allowed them to flourish in their desired careers. We are very pleased to give back to a school that does so much for its students. In turn, this will motivate your students to do more for their community."
An important donation during our 50th anniversary celebration
The Dean family donation was celebrated at a cheque presentation on May 29, 2017 at Casa Loma Campus with Brookfield Partners Foundation President Alan Dean, his wife Kathy Kinnear, Dean of the Centre for Construction, Engineering and Technology Adel Esayed, Chair of the Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management Clint Kissoon, George Brown College Foundation President, Cindy Gouveia and Manager of Student Awards and 50th Anniversary Fundraising committee member, Candice O'Donnell.
George Brown College is grateful for supporters like the Dean family as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. "We would like to acknowledge Alan Dean's participation on the Foundation Board of Directors, where he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. His support to George Brown extends beyond this role to financially help our students. We are so appreciative of this." says Gouveia.
"We are thrilled to work alongside Alan and Kathy. They are partnering with us to build a better Toronto, one that helps people from all neighbourhoods achieve success." Esayed said.
