TORONTO - George Brown College and Chitkara University (ChitkaraU) in India have expanded their longstanding partnership to enhance educational opportunities for students.
Renowned as one of the best private universities in the region of north India, ChitkaraU offers multi-disciplinary programs, all of which are designed to be industry-relevant.
The wide ranging new agreement strengthens ties between the two institutions, establishing opportunities for teaching and learning mentorship, curriculum development, applied research, as well as faculty and student exchanges and study abroad options. The partnership between George Brown and ChitkaraU was first established in 2006. Since then, more than 160 students have benefitted, earning dual credentials from both institutions.
The agreement provides eligible students with opportunities for their learning to be recognized and to receive advance standing into the third year of George Brown’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Culinary Management degree in Canada. Launched in 2016, the degree is tailored specifically to the culinary field. Developed with input from industry, it includes two work placements and combines management theory with advanced culinary courses, preparing students to enter the culinary industry with a strategic approach to operations and greater depth of insight in regards to food and cooking and the management of culinary operations.
While studying in India, students will benefit from the exceptional curriculum and faculty of George Brown. They will experience learning through an academic mentoring model from Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts faculty.

This will enable our students to develop international skills and become employable or start their own culinary ventures anywhere,” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice Chancellor Chitkara University.
