About the Play

Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by Julia Nish-Lapidus*

The classic tale of star-crossed lovers, born into warring families and driven to extreme acts just to be together, Romeo and Juliet is a story of love overcoming ancient, ingrained hatred. The generational divide in 15th century Verona seems as wide in our present day, exploring religious, social, and romantic transformations that are still relevant today. We are reminded that, though hate is perpetual, love is eternal.
