Who was Jim Turner?
Jim Turner joined George Brown College in 1969 as Chair of the Business and Commerce division (now the Centre for Business). He filled a number of key positions over the ensuing 25 years, including Director of Student Services, Dean of Business and Commerce, and Senior Vice-President of Administration. He was a pioneer in the early development of the college and played a vital role in its ongoing growth and success.
After his retirement in 1994, he became CEO of the George Brown College Foundation and was instrumental in its establishment and defining its role.
Jim passed away in 2010 and is dearly missed by his family - his wife Diane, his children Bert, John (Sandra), Marilyn (Michael), and David (Susan), as well as his grandchildren: Sarah, Tommy, Josh, Maddi and Jack.
Jim was passionate about improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. He served for many years on the Boards and Committees of Community Living Ontario and Community Living Toronto and was twice President of Community Living Toronto.
