Donald Moore - A Leader with Vision
Donald Moore was born in Barbados on November 2, 1891, and came to Toronto in the spring of 1913.
Throughout his long life, he directed his efforts towards the betterment and upliftment of black people, securing civil and human rights and promoting better Canadian citizens. The highlight of his service to the black community and to Canada was the formation of the Negro Citizenship Association, established in 1951 to address Canada's restrictive immigration laws that affected black people. On April 27, 1954, he led a delegation of black people to Ottawa to present a brief that resulted in changes to the immigration laws.
Donald Moore was a spiritual and caring man of courage, integrity, self-discipline, great leadership skills and was devoted to serving his community. His outstanding contributions to Canadian society have been recognized by local organizations, the City of Toronto, and the Ontario, Canadian and Barbadian governments.

The Donald Willard Moore scholarship was established in 1991, to provide scholarships for deserving students. Your gift will help support students who:
- are in at least their second year with high academic standing
- demonstrate leadership in their community
- show entrepreneurial potential
- are of Caribbean or black origin
- are in financial need
