Ted Stephenson, MBA, CFA, CFP

Prior to starting at George Brown in August 2018, Ted Stephenson was most recently an Executive Director of CFA Society Emirates. Ted has 7+ years of full-time college teaching experience in the Middle East. In addition to his duties at colleges, he has been involved in a number of different educational activities such as a 14 weeks training for the Kuwait Investment Authority, ACCA Training for Al Jazeera Media Finance department and CFA & CISI training at the Qatar Finance and Business Academy.

Ted has held senior financial management positions in the energy distribution and business software industries including his role as a Finance Director for SAP in Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand from 2002 – 2007.

Ted also worked in Vietnam from 1995 – 1998 and therefore has first-hand experience with Frontier, Emerging and Developed markets as well as with small, medium, and large enterprises.

Ted’s professional credentials include an MBA from the Ivey School of Business in Canada (1994), the Certified Management Accountant designation (2000, CPA 2014), the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute (2003) and Certified Financial Planner designation in 2010. From 2013 to 2015, Ted was a member of the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB – CFP) Global Body of Knowledge Working Group.

In addition to his teaching duties at George Brown College, he served as a consultant to Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB) as Head of Learning. FPSB has certification programs in 27 territories, and FPSB Affiliates have certified more than 175,000 individuals to use the CFP, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER and CFP marks worldwide.
