Biography

Dennis Merotto, an acclaimed Canadian fashion designer, has left an indelible mark on the Canadian fashion industry through his prolific career. As the former head designer of Canada’s premium luxury label, Lida Baday, Dennis crafted groundbreaking luxury collections for high-end retailers such as Saks 5th Avenue, Holt Renfrew, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom. Previously, he had extended his influence designing and developing private label collections for upscale retailer across Canada. In 2010, Dennis founded his own successful women’s wear business and brand selling to premium quality stores across Canada and the U.S. A sought-after fashion illustrator, his work often graced numerous pages of Canadian magazines as well as illustrating for other designers. Dennis’s career included extensive travels across the U.S. and Europe, researching fashion trends and working with top luxury textile mills.

All this experience has seen Dennis’s passion for education and mentoring young designers transition into a full-time teaching career. Dennis has been teaching at George Brown College since 2020 and covers Fundamental Pattern Drafting, Technical Illustration, and Design and Colour in Fashion. He has also taught Draping and Product Development in the past.
