What is an academic credit?

Academic Credit

The technical answer is that one credit is one hour of instruction, per week, for one semester (we call this a ‘contact hour’).

In some cases a Continuing Education course will have full-time equivalency to courses offered within George Brown College post-secondary programs. You can determine if a Continuing Education course is equivalent to a full-time course by checking the course web page on the Continuing Education web site.

There are also some courses offered at George Brown College that are not credit courses at all.  These would include upgrading courses, English Skills, Computer Skills and Applications etc.
