Changing Status from International to Domestic:

If you became Canadian, Permanent Resident or granted Convention Refugee prior to registration, you will need to submit the documents listed below to the International Centre

If you became Canadian, Permanent Resident or granted Convention Refugee status while you are in school, please email supporting documents to our Registration Office at registration@georgebrown.ca. Documents must be submitted prior to the first day of classes of a given term.

Acceptable documentation includes:

  • Permanent Residence Card; or
  • Your Record of Landing that shows the date you were issued permanent residence status; or
  • A copy of your Convention Refugee Notice of Decision document; or
  • Confirmation of Permanent Resident that shows the date you were issued permanent residence status; or
  • If your status has changed, a copy of your Certificate of Citizenship or Canadian Passport.

In certain specific circumstances (e.g. dependent or spouse of an employer-specific work permit holder, spouse or dependent of a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Diplomat) student can request a change from international student fee status to domestic. To see if you are eligible, please visit the International Centre.

For fee changes to be approved and take effect, all required documentation must be submitted prior to the start of the term/program.  If documents are received partway through the semester, changes can only be made to future terms and not retroactively. To see if you are eligible, please contact the International Centre.
