The George Brown College community mourns the passing of Raymond Moriyama, renowned Canadian architect and founder of Moriyama Teshima Architects

It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of renowned Canadian architect, Raymond Moriyama. The George Brown College community extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Mr. Moriyama's contributions to the field of architecture and his iconic designs have left an indelible mark on Canada's built environment. 

Moriyama's legacy is indeed impressive, with his involvement in designing some of Canada's most iconic buildings, such as the Toronto Reference Library and the Canadian War Museum. His architectural talent and dedication to excellence are further exemplified by the multiple Governor-General's Medals for architecture he received throughout his illustrious career. His impact on the architectural world will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come. 

It is also noteworthy that Moriyama Teshima Architects, the firm he founded, played a significant role in designing George Brown College's Limberlost Place, a testament to his ongoing commitment to architectural innovation, education and sustainability. We are grateful for his contributions to our community.  

Moriyama's dedication to his craft, his numerous accolades, and his induction into the Order of Canada serve as a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication to his profession. He will be greatly missed but always remembered for his enduring influence on the world of architecture.
