Biography
Mohammad Khan is a Professor and Degree Program Coordinator at the School of Accounting and Finance. He possesses over 25 years of experience in national and international civil service including serving with the United Nations, teaching and consulting. Mohammad has a passion for teaching and has over ten years of teaching experience, both in Canada and abroad. Mohammad brings into the classroom real world experiences gained from a variety of professional assignments. Prior to joining George Brown College in 2014, Mohammad served as the CFO/Officer-In-Charge of the Finance Section with the United Nations Mission in Haiti.
Mohammad’s teaching philosophy is designed to unlock the student’s potential and to encourage their active engagement through team building exercises. Empowering students is one of his critical learning and teaching objectives which he pursues in all academic assignments. He has published in peer-reviewed, referred, and non-peer reviewed journals. Mohammad’s main research interests include: Accounting Information in business/lending decisions; Financial Reporting, Accounting and Governance issues in Public Sector Organisations; Government Policy Implications with respect to Corporate Finance and Accounting; and Public Sector Financial Management in emerging economies.
Mohammad has been involved in the Curriculum Development Committees set up to develop two proposed Bachelor Degree programs, i.e., BBA (Non-profit Management) and BBA (Business Analytics) in the Centre for Business.
