Biography
Ana Pereira is a Professor in the Centre for Business at George Brown College in Toronto.
She is an accomplished Retail Executive who has built a reputation for her expertise in the areas of Retail Strategy, E-Commerce, Merchandising, Global Sourcing, Product Development, Inventory Management, Branding, and Marketing with experience working and living in Canada and the U.S.
Ana’s diverse skillset, built during various executive roles in the retail industry, includes extensive experience in developing retail strategy, managing departments such as buying, marketing, sourcing, product development, inventory planning and management, and visual merchandising. She has also managed retail stores and operations in North America for a large specialty retailer.
During her career, Ana developed the strategy and execution plan of a new retail concept that was launched for a major retailer; has been part of a new e-commerce launch team; was involved in several new ERP system specification teams; set up overseas staff and sourcing offices; and re-positioned a retail chain to success by developing new strategies and building effective teams.
Previous positons include General Manager of Brand Strategy such as The Hudson’s Bay Company as, IBM Strategic Retail Consulting Practice, North America. Ana started her career as a buyer at Holt Renfrew.
Ana has a passion for learning and progressive teaching style uses real industry situations as assignments, in addition to bringing in in guest speakers who are current industry leaders to better prepare students for the workforce.
Since2016, Ana has been invited by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce to be part of the judging panel for the Ontario Business Achievement Awards. Ana has participated in the adhoc advisory committee of Yorkville University, BBA program proposed for Ontario. She has been a keynote speaker on the subject of Raising Your Small Business Brand Profile, and mentors new graduates in navigating their early career. Ana has previously taught in the Fashion Merchandising and Marketing Program at The Academy of Design.
