Biography
Stewart Arnott's career as an actor and director span 40 years. Upon graduating from York University's theatre program, he joined the Stratford Festival acting company under Robin Phillips for three seasons, returning there in 1998 to assistant direct for two more seasons. He was also a founding company member of Autumn Angel Repertory Theatre and the Atlantic Theatre Festival. Stewart's work as an actor has taken him across the country, from the major regional theatres to small independent companies, in work ranging from the classics to collective ensemble creations. He also works actively on camera and can be seen in numerous television and feature film productions.
As a director, Stewart's career is similarly wide-ranging. Recently he concurrently self-produced and directed an acclaimed solo play in a non-theatrical venue, and directed a major regional production that played in the Mirvish season in Toronto. He has also been a teacher for much of his career, as an acting instructor for both theatre and film. He continues to teach and directed for the George Brown Theatre School, and has taught/directed at Ryerson University, U. Of Waterloo, Humber College, and Armstrong Acting Studios.
