Important Updates
Regarding the educational technology tools currently supported at George Brown College. These changes are part of an effort to optimize our resources, reduce spending, and eliminate redundant tools. Please read through the details below to ensure minimal disruption to your workflow:
Camtasia License Expiry and Alternatives
As part of our cost-reduction efforts, GBC will be cancelling its enterprise-level Camtasia license, which expires on March 31. Camtasia has been widely used for video, screen, and voice capture, including for creating mini-lectures.
To ensure you continue to have access to powerful video editing and recording tools, we are offering the following alternatives:
- Microsoft Stream: A secure platform for storing and sharing videos within GBC.
- Adobe Premiere Rush: A more professional video editing tool for creating polished videos.
- Adobe Premiere: Available for more advanced video editing, with some licenses available through GBC.
- ClipChamp: Available on Office365 under STREAM for basic video editing.
- iMovie: Available on Macs for basic video editing. If Camtasia is absolutely necessary for your work, individual licenses can be purchased. Please reach out for more information.
How to login to Office 365
George Brown College provides students and staff with free access to Microsoft 365—a tool that allows you to create, edit and share documents and projects in real time and on the go.
Access to Microsoft 365 including OneDrive is available to currently registered students and up to 1 year after your last registered course.
The service can be used on your PC or Mac and on your Android, iOS or Windows device. With your account, you can install the Microsoft 365 application on up to five devices.
