Getting Set Up
At George Brown, you will use the same account credentials to access most George Brown systems. Your George Brown account must be activated, and the password changed, before you can use your George Brown email, STU-VIEW, Brightspace, Zoom or any of the Microsoft apps. Prepare for the upcoming semester by activating your account.
You will be notified when an email account and temporary password have been created for you. This email notification will be sent to the Associate Dean/supervisor and then be communicated to you.
Once you have your UserID (staff ID #) and temporary password, visit GBC Identity Manager to create a new password. With your new password you will now be able to access your GBC email, STU-VIEW and Brightspace, Zoom and other Microsoft apps.
George Brown has deployed a new security feature called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFA is a cybersecurity best practice and is widely used by organizations around the world to protect systems and users. MFA asks you to authenticate on your mobile phone through the Microsoft Authenticator app in addition to logging in to college applications online as an extra layer of security.
If you have questions about MFA, please refer to their FAQs or email them.
Microsoft Outlook is the email platform in use at the College. Please remember that when communicating with your students about academic matters, you are required to use your George Brown email account or the email tool in Brightspace. Do not use a personal email address when communicating with students.
