We know this is a new system and so you may encounter some issues as you begin to navigate it. Don't worry -  Brightspace has a robust support system in place. There's also a get help option that includes calling, emailing, and chatting options if you need to escalate things or simply need more help.

Once you've logged into Brightspace, look for the Get Help button at the bottom of the page. This will allow you to search for answers to your issue or connect you with an agent. The Brightspace support should be your go-to for help with everything related to the system except for login or account issues. For that, you can go to GBC's Help Desk.

What If I need Login or Account Help?

If you're having trouble logging into Brightspace or with your GBC account, please get in touch with the college's Help Desk.

Get Help Using Brightspace

If you need help using a feature or tool in Brightspace, click on the “Get Help” widget at the bottom right of every page on Brightspace. You will be prompted to use the widget. If additional help is needed, you will be offered the ability to chat, call or email a Brightspace Agent for help.

If you're having trouble logging into Brightspace or with your GBC account do not call this number. D2L cannot help you to gain access or reset password for any GBC account. Please call Helpdesk directly.

GBC Helpdesk

Send an email to the GBC Helpdesk for the following:

  • Your Brightspace account
  • Issues accessing Brightspace (new access or request or difficulty accessing Brightspace)
  • Request a Sandbox
  • Request a DEV Shell

Email helpdesk@georgebrown.ca. Be sure to include D2L Brightspace in the subject line of the email. Include your full-name and employee ID in the body of the email. For DEV Shell requests, include the course code.

Brightspace Training

Faculty that require Brightspace training prior to September have been identified by the Chairs. You will have received communication on how to register for these sessions. 

Brightspace training will be available to all GBC staff beginning September 2023, you can register for these sessions on Cornerstone once they are available.

Migrated Courses

All courses in the 2 most recent academic years (202201, 202202, 202203, 202101 202102 202103) will be migrated to Brightspace by the project team. 

If there are courses or content you wish to save from previous years, those CRNs can be exported from Blackboard and stored in a cloud storage solution. The eLTI team can provide support (link back to Office Hours page) to help with this. All content you wish to save must be exported before August 31, 2023.

GBC will archive the last 7 years of courses according to our storage and appeals policy. There will be a process for restoring course materials in the case of an appeal.
