How to find course reserves and Textbooks
Course Reserves are required or recommended readings, including textbooks, books, articles, and class notes that your instructor has placed on reserve for you to use.
Many course reserve textbooks can be found in self-serve kiosks located outside of the Library Learning Commons at Casa Loma, St. James, and Waterfront campuses, while some are located inside the libraries at the help desks. Please bring the title of the item and your instructor’s name so library staff can help retrieve the item for you.
To sign out items, a valid GBC Student ID/library card is necessary. Please note that all course reserves are available for short-term loans and are not renewable.
I am GBC Faculty; how do I place items on Reserve?
To place heavy-demand books, chapters, journal articles, or audio-visual materials on Reserve:
- Add a Readings & Learning Resource List to your D2L course
- Follow the instructions for "Add Using ISBN" from the Reading & Learning Resources by Leganto guide
Library staff will review your request, including the Copyright Librarian; faculty are reminded to give ample time for copyright clearance. For more information, please check our Copyright Help database or contact Heather Buffett, Copyright Librarian ext. 6947.
