The Business Administration – Accounting three-year advanced diploma provides you with everything you’ll need to perform complex accounting functions and contribute to key decision-making. This program prepares you for exciting career paths, including financial accounting, financial analysis, and management accounting.

The Business Administration – Accounting three-year advanced diploma gives you the knowledge and skills needed for accounting jobs in a wide range of industries. You’ll explore topics like auditing, corporate taxation, law, and strategic management that will help you in your future career.

Here are some skills you’ll be able to show off after completion of the Business Administration - Accounting program:

  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, databases and accounting software programs
  • Advising business owners and managers on important strategic decisions
  • Recording financial transactions for all types of business structures
  • Preparing and presenting financial statements and reports
  • Preparing income tax returns for individuals and corporations
  • Performing accounting transactions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Fourteen programs at the Centre for Business have earned international recognition from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Advanced diploma and diploma programs at the Schools of Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Management, and Marketing and the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program at the School of Accounting and Finance have ACBSP accreditation. George Brown is now one of only two colleges in Ontario to have earned ACBSP accreditation.

This program (B107) is offered without work experience. Students wishing to apply for Business Administration – Accounting with work experience should apply to B157.

The combination of skills that you will obtain through this program can lead to a wide range of excellent career opportunities in many sectors. These include financial accounting, financial analysis and management accounting. Accounting skills are widely sought-after for many different positions across a wide range of industries. Graduates of the program have found employment as:

  • financial analyst

Educational Pathways

Graduates of the Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma may be eligible for advanced standing in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program. For information on additional future study options, see our transfer guide.

Degree Transfer Option 

Graduates of the Advanced Accounting Diploma (B107/B157) who have a minimum Program GPA of 3.0 may be eligible to transfer into Semester 5 of the Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) with a specialization in Accounting (B322). Block Transfer students are granted a minimum of 20, up to a maximum of 25 credits towards their degree program.

If you are a B107/B157 graduate who is interested in transferring to B322, but do not meet the GPA standard for transfer, you may be eligible to upgrade.

The B107 program is accredited by ACCA until December 30th, 2022. Graduates of B107 before this date are entitled to the following exemptions:

ACCA QualificationFoundations in Accountancy (FIA) Qualification 
  • Business and Technology (BT)
  • Management Accounting (MA)
  • Financial Accounting (FA)
  • Corporate and Business Law (LW)

 

  • All foundation papers.
