What is the Tutoring and Learning Centre (TLC)?
We are an academic support hub for all of you, GBC students. We support you in developing core academic skills so you can reach your goals and succeed in your courses.
What support can you find at the TLC?
We’ll help you strengthen these core skills to support you in any course you’re taking at George Brown:
- Academic language and writing skills (e.g. essays, reports, referencing)
- English as a Second Language, or ESL (e.g. conversation, grammar, reading comprehension)
- Math and Statistics
- Accounting
- Science (Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physics)
- Learning and study skills (e.g. time management, note-taking strategies, test preparation, presentation skills)
- Software proficiency (e.g. AutoCAD, Microsoft Apps)
How can you use the TLC support?
There are many ways you can access TLC support. These include:
- One-on-one tutoring
- Drop-in sessions
- Workshops
- Weekly learning groups and study sessions
- Course-embedded tutorials
- Online resources
- On-site resources (handouts and practice materials)
