Our volunteer programs strengthen your commitment to the college and meet your diverse personal and professional interests. We encourage you to give your time and talent to make George Brown College even stronger. Many of the opportunities help our alumni to gain exposure and profile within their profession and within the community and they provide a gratifying and mutually beneficial way to “give back”.

The Alumni Relations mandate is to provide alumni with professional development opportunities, benefits, and services that improve their lives and enhance the relationships that our graduates have with the college. Alumni volunteers are instrumental in fulfilling that mandate. Alumni volunteers provide their expertise on specific topics and issues, sit on a variety of committees, are highlighted in college marketing and generously give their time for alumni-related events.

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
Participate as an alumni volunteer in the following ways:
  • Mentor a Student or Graduate: Help equip tomorrow’s leaders for great careers by sharing your expertise.

Mentoring

George Brown has partnered withTen Thousand Coffees, a digital platform that links George Brown students with George Brown alumni over coffee, by phone or online. Get real advice from a real person with life or work experience you’re curious about. Ten Thousand Coffees George Brown Connect Café features alumni who want to help students and fellow alumni looking for encouragement and guidance around their career exploration. If you're interested in continuing your mentoring journey and becoming a mentor or mentee, we encourage you to register on the Ten Thousand Coffee platform.

  • You’ll receive a monthly introduction to a student or fellow alumni based on your interests and goals
  • Suggest a time to chat, inperson at a coffee shop or online from the comfort of your home, to share your advice and experience
  • Once you join, all introductions are sent directly to your inbox, so you don’t need to use another tool!
